Born in Scotland.
Half-Filipina.
Captivated by the world.

Travel writing from Scotland, Alba, Caledonia, or whatever your preferred name may be.

I frequently write about my Dundee birthplace, my recently adopted hometown of Glasgow and everywhere in between. My Scotland travel writing has appeared in titles such as Travel + Leisure, American Way and Culture Trip.

Predictably, I’m also a whisky expert: I’m a member of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society and have recently started building a cask investment portfolio. I have a particular fondness for Islay single malts.

Philippines travel writing by a native English speaker.

My mother was born in Iloilo City, Philippines. I’ve visited the country every two years since I was born, although these days it’s about once a year. As a Philippines specialist travel writer, I’ve explored destinations as diverse as Manila, Cebu, Bicol, Bohol and Palawan. I speak Hiligaynon as a second language.

Though I’m not based in the Philippines, I have the advantage of combining an almost-native Filipino perspective with native English proficiency. I read Philippine historical literature to deepen my knowledge, and recently penned an essay on famous Filipina women for the new edition of Lonely Planet Philippines (out soon!). My Philippines travel writing has featured in The Times, National Geographic Traveller UK and the South China Morning Post.
