Taiwan Travel Writing
I first visited Taiwan before I began my travel writing career, while backpacking with my mum across Asia. I fell in love with the cities of Taipei and Kaohsiung, the melting marble walls of Taroko Gorge, the street food night markets, and bubble tea – not to mention the people.
This initial trip, which lasted one month, built a good foundation for me to eventually specialise in Taiwan as a travel writer, and I wrote Taipei features for Open Skies and Going Places, the latter being a cover story. My first on-the-ground assignment as a specialist Taiwan travel writer, with JRNY Magazine, was a mammoth one: one 2,000-word cover story, four digital articles, advertorial for EVA Air, and a podcast. I’ve since created two full-length Taiwan travel writing supplements for Wanderlust, plus lots of online content.
